WEBB is a creative event production agency handling large-scale live and virtual events for 100 to 100,000 attendees throughout the United States and occasionally outside the US. Together with our clients, we conceptualize, design, produce, build, staff, operate, and manage all aspects of an event.


Currently, we are looking for a self-motivated, detailed, solution-focused individual to fill the role of Scenic & Decor Department Manager in our Event Technology Department. You will be the expert on all things scenic for live events within the company.


The Scenic Department Manager oversees our event production process’s scenic and décor elements. You will lead the scenic assets that have been built for our clients, from show site setup to storage in our warehouse. You will QC the items and manage the scheduling of refurbishment to ensure scenic elements are event-ready when needed. You will create orders of scenic and décor items to meet event needs and oversee the ordering of purchase items and cross rentals. You will partner with producers and our creative team to understand our scenic inventory and consult in planning shows to be cost-effective with our scenic elements. You will manage the inventory of scenic and décor in our inventory system and help maintain a guide on our existing assets.


You will oversee the aisle leads and event technicians in your department and will lead by example. You will also help guide the labor coordinator on staffing shows in your area by evaluating staff, coaching staff, and helping recruit staff for your area.


Department leads and their teams run their specific elements of the event from concepts, to implementation, live show, and load-out. Department leads should thrive under pressure, enjoy travel, and have a passion for event production and logistics. The scenic and décor department manager should also have a passion for building and fabrication and a high-quality standard for presentation.


This role reports to our Director of Event Technology.

You have the following skills and experience //

  • 5 years of Scenic experience – building scenic elements or set design and construction
  • Previous Management Experience and experience managing crews
  • Inventory management experience is strongly preferred
  • Proactive problem solver with solid project management skills
  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn an inventory management system
  • Eye for detail and maniacal attention to delivering high quality, error-free deliverables
  • Ability to work well with others

  • Exceptional organization skills
  • Ability to multi-task, wear many hats
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Availability and willingness to work extended hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, on-call as necessary.
  • Ability to maintain composure in a sometimes high stressed, fast-paced environment
  • Vectorworks competency a plus; alternatively proven ability to learn new software


  • Oversee Event Leads and item/gear allocation.
  • Provide oversight of job and project orders to ensure they are complete and correct.
  • Recommend equipment purchases and retirement for the department.
  • Manage the cross rental process for the scenic department.
  • Assign Event Leads and event staff in coordination with the Event Technology Department Director and Labor Coordinators.
  • Manage department inventory and ensure everything is documented, inventoried properly, and QC is complete.
  • Research and implement improved strategies for utilizing items, processes, and procedures.
  • Function as an assigned Event Lead as needed.
